I don’t know about you but when I visit iconic destinations I love visiting when there’s minimal crowds.  Better photos, better videos and a better overall experience. And as a travel creator, I’ve learned that most destinations aren’t just about where you go — they’re about when and how you experience them.  My recent visit to Ba Na Hills in Vietnam is a perfect example. Most visitors rush up for a few photos, get pushed across the very crowded Golden Bridge and leave feeling overwhelmed. That’s why I was excited to learn that an overnight stay unlocks access to a VIP experience! Yup, the Gate-Kept Secret and Real Reason to Stay at Ba Na Hills: Golden Bridge Before the Crowds !

Why Most People Visit Ba Na Hills the Wrong Way

Ba Na Hills is one of Vietnam’s most famous attractions. Located in the mountains outside of Da Nang, floating above the clouds, it’s known for its French-inspired village, mountain cable cars, amusement park rides and of course, the iconic Golden Bridge.  Supported by two giant stone hands they holds the bridge up over spectacular views.

But here’s the thing:
Most visitors only experience Ba Na Hills during its busiest hours because they come with tour groups.

These tour groups arrive in mid-morning and by late morning, the Golden Bridge is PACKED! The photo ops turn into queues and the peaceful mountain setting transforms into crowded chaos.

Only have time for a day visit?

But during my searches I found a little known secret – an overnight stay at one of Ba Na Hills grants guests an exclusive, essentially VIP experience!

That’s right, The Gate-Kept Secret and Real Reason to Stay at Ba Na Hills: Golden Bridge Before the Crowds…

Yup, guests staying at the Ba Na Hills hotels, are granted early access to the Golden Bridge before the crowds arrive. This access unlocks an exclusive near private Golden Bridge visit which changes the experience completely.

We arrived at sunrise as the sky displayed a masterpiece of colours from pink to purple to orange and blue. The bridge felt calm, quiet, and almost surreal. Instead of fighting for space, we actually enjoyed our peaceful visit, the incredible views and the fact that our photos didn’t have anyone else in them. The mountains in the distance looked magical as the mist hovered around them like halos and the golden walkway itself glowed softly in the early light.

I returned at 10:30am for a comparison visit and left as quickly as I could. The place was packed and I felt like a claustrophobic fish fighting my way upstream. It was crazy and a completely different experience!

Staying Overnight Changes the Entire Ba Na Hills Experience

Staying at Ba Na Hills not only gave us early access to the Golden Bridge it also gave us after hours access to the entire French Village. The evenings at Ba Na Hills are quiet, with peaceful walkways without the tour groups and as night fell so did the cool mountain air. I went out for a walk around midnight and had the place entirely to myself, it was almost eery like a private hilltop town. And the stars that night… they were INCREDIBLE! Breakfast and pool access were also included in our stay.

Sunrise Access to The Golden Bridge

The first cable car for guests is at 6am and is only operational for 5 mins. To ensure you don’t miss it they recommend lining up at 5-10 mins before. Not me, I wanted to be the first in line so I got there at 5:30am and was successful with my mission. The next guests to arrive got there at 5:42am and they were visibly disappointed to see that we were already in line. By 5:50am there was about 20-25 people in line and the cable cars started up promptly at 6am and stopped again at 6:05 am ensuring us a very intimate experience. I was first out and first on the bridge which allowed me the epic captures below.

  • Early cable car access times for hotel guests are at
    • 6am – 6:05am
    • 6:30am – 6:35am
    • 7am – 7:05am
  • Cable cars to access the park for non hotel guests open at 7am. It’s a 20 mins ride then they transfer to the Golden Bridge cable car down.
  • Ba Na Hills has 5 main cable car lines with 12 stations

Is Staying at Ba Na Hills Worth It?

If your goal is just to check the Golden Bridge off your list, a day trip would suffice. But if you want a more exclusive experience that insures:

  • photos without crowds
  • a peaceful Golden Bridge experience
  • time to explore the village slowly
  • a quieter, more atmospheric visit

then staying overnight is absolutely worth it.

For me, the Golden Bridge to myself was the highlight of the trip!
